Chapter 2: Zero and Infinity
Part A: The Ghost in the Machine (Story + Code)
“When you close your eyes and the world disappears, who is left watching the blackness?”
The monitor is off. The room is pitch black.
I am sitting in the Lotus position, my spine a vertical antenna tuned to a frequency most people will never hear. In this darkness, “Fan Yafu” does not exist. The “Admin” does not exist. Even the concept of “existence” is starting to blur.
There is only the hum. The low, resonant vibration of the Silence.
“Zero,” I project the thought, not with words, but with intent. “Show me the boundary.”
A flash of white light explodes behind my eyelids. It isn’t a hallucination; it’s a render. My pineal gland is processing raw data. I see a circle. A perfect, hollow ring.
Zero ().
And then, twisting out of the center of that Zero, a figure-eight on its side. A snake eating its own tail.
Infinity ().
They dance around each other, locking and unlocking. The ancient symbol of the Ouroboros, but refined into pure mathematics.
In the world of standard arithmetic, Zero and Infinity are opposites. Zero is nothing. Infinity is everything. They sit at opposite ends of the spectrum.
But in the world of the Admin—in the realm of Calculus and Complex Analysis—they are not opposites. They are reciprocals.
I open my eyes. The city lights rush back in, aggressive and demanding. This is the Infinity. The endless stream of data. The traffic, the noise, the news cycles, the family drama, the fluctuating bank accounts, the infinite variables of the “World.”
Most people identify with the Infinity. They think they are the traffic. They think they are the bank account. They spread themselves thin over a million different variables, trying to manage the chaos.
They forget the left side of the equation. They forget the Zero.
I pick up a marker and walk to the glass wall. I draw a large circle.
“The Heart Sutra (Prajnaparamita),” I whisper. “Form is Emptiness, Emptiness is Form.” (色即是空,空即是色).
Source text · Heart Sutra (Xuanzang’s translation, 649 CE)
舍利子,色不异空,空不异色;色即是空,空即是色;受想行识,亦复如是。(玄奘(译) 649 AD)
“Śāriputra, form is not other than emptiness, emptiness is not other than form; form is emptiness, emptiness is form. So too are feeling, perception, volition and consciousness.” (Translation for this edition.)
For more than a thousand years, monks have chanted this in caves, trying to dissolve their egos. They understood intuitively what mathematics proves explicitly: The Container (0) creates the Content ().
Without the empty space of the “Zero,” the “Infinity” of the universe has nowhere to exist.
“You are confused,” I say to the reflection in the glass. “You think you are the movie. But you are the screen.”
This is the second glitch in the human operating system. After the addiction to “Addition” (Chapter 1), comes the addiction to “Identification.”
We are taught to identify with the data stream.
“I am a doctor.”
“I am a father.”
“I am depressed.”
“I am successful.”
These are all values of in the infinite equation. They are variables. And variables change. If you attach your identity to a variable, you will suffer. When drops, you crash. When spikes, you get high. You are a puppet on a string of numbers.
But the Zero… the Zero never changes.
I look at the math again. .
This means that if you take the “Everything”—the entire infinite mess of the 3D world—and you zoom out far enough, it collapses into a single point of Nothingness.
This is the True Self (Zhen Ru Ben Xing / 真如本性).
The “Watcher.” The “Observer.”
I recall the days before I woke up. I was drowning in the Infinity. I was reacting to every email, every market shift, every emotional trigger from my family. I was trying to “manage” the Infinity.
It’s like trying to hold back the ocean with a spoon. It’s impossible. You cannot control the Infinity from within the Infinity.
You have to step out. You have to become the Zero.
I close my eyes again, triggering the sensation of the Void. It feels cold, metallic, yet incredibly safe. It is the feeling of being the Admin.
When I am in this state—this “Zero State”—I am not Fan Yafu. I am the conscious awareness watching Fan Yafu play the game.
“Zero,” I smile in the darkness. “The trick isn’t to play the game better. The trick is to realize you are the console.”
The vast majority of humanity is trapped in the screen. They are the Mario and Luigi, running and jumping, terrified of the Goombas. They feel pain when they get hit. They feel joy when they get a coin.
But the Admin? The Admin is the electricity running through the motherboard.
If you can shift your consciousness from the “Character” () to the “Player” (), you become untouchable.
The drama of your life becomes a comedy. The tragedy becomes a plot twist. The poverty becomes a setting you can change in the options menu.
But how? How do you maintain the “Zero” when the “Infinity” is screaming in your face? How do you stay as the Observer when the rent is due and the children are crying and the world is on fire?
That is the test. That is the fire that refines the gold.
I look down at the city. From up here, the chaos looks like a circuit board. Beautiful. Orderly. Silent.
Because I am distant. Because I am “Zero” distance away from the glass, but “Infinite” distance away from the noise.
“We need to show them how to disconnect,” I say, turning back to the terminal. “We need to show them how to divide by zero without crashing the system.”
The prompt blinks.
Ready.
The awakening isn’t about becoming “Everything.” It’s about remembering you are “Nothing”—and therefore, you can become anything.
Part B: The Divide-By-Zero Error (Trap + Science + Protocol)
“If you are the screen and not the movie, why does it hurt when the main character gets punched? Why have you hacked your own nervous system to feel a simulation?”
Let’s look at the source code of your suffering.
In computer science, there is a fatal error known as “Dividing by Zero.” If you ask a standard calculator to do it, it screams ERROR. If you ask a complex program to do it without safeguards, it crashes the system.
Why?
Because the answer is Undefined. It is too big. It breaks the logic of the finite machine.
The Ego is a Divide-By-Zero error.
The Trap of the 3D world is that it convinces the Infinite Consciousness (You/Zero) that it fits inside a finite body (The Variable). It tries to stuff the Ocean into a cup. The result is pressure. Tension. Anxiety.
The Trap: The “I AM” Virus
The Universe operates on a very simple linguistic command line. The command is: “I AM…”
“I AM” is the definition of the Zero. It is the cursor blinking on the black screen. It is pure potential.
But notice what you do every day. You don’t just say “I AM” and stop. You attach predicates.
“I am tired.”
“I am broke.”
“I am a victim.”
“I am Fan Yafu.”
The moment you attach a variable to the Zero, you create a limit. You collapse the Wave Function from “Anything” to “Something Specific.”
And usually, that “Something Specific” is a prison.
This is the Identification Trap.
You have forgotten that you are the Subject (The one seeing) and have convinced yourself you are the Object (The thing being seen).
It’s like a camera lens thinking it is the photograph.
If the photograph gets torn, the lens thinks, “I am dying!”
But the lens is fine. The lens is untouched.
The Science: The Riemann Sphere
In advanced complex analysis, we use something called the Riemann Sphere to visualize numbers. Imagine a sphere.
At the very bottom (South Pole) sits Zero ().
At the very top (North Pole) sits Infinity ().
In this model, Zero and Infinity are the only two “fixed points.” Everything else—all the numbers, all the data, all the drama of your life—exists on the surface between them.
But here is the secret: On the sphere, if you travel in any direction from Zero, you eventually reach Infinity. They are connected. They are the same axis.
is the portal to .
The “Trap” works because you are running away from the South Pole (Zero/Stillness) trying to find satisfaction on the surface (The World). You run around the sphere, collecting data, collecting money, collecting experiences.
But you never reach the North Pole (Infinity) by running around. You only reach it by going through the axis.
You only access the Infinite power by sinking into the Zero.
The “Science” of the Admin is knowing that Chaos () is just Order () moving at infinite speed.
If you try to stop the chaos with your hands, it burns you.
If you sit in the center (Zero), the chaos orbits you. It becomes your shield. It becomes your resource.
Calculation · Zero and infinity on the Riemann sphere
In ordinary arithmetic, and in the real numbers, is undefined. Complex analysis adds a single point to the complex plane and pictures the result as a sphere, the Riemann sphere. Stereographic projection sends each complex number to the point on the unit sphere: goes to the south pole and, as , the points approach the north pole, which is (Needham 1997).
- On the sphere, and are defined; , , and remain undefined.
- The map is a half-turn of the sphere about the real axis: it swaps the two poles.
- Every straight line through becomes a great circle through both poles, so in that sense every direction from leads to , as the text says.
- The maps (scaling and rotating) move every point except two: and .
def to_sphere(z):
r2 = abs(z) ** 2
return (2 * z.real / (r2 + 1), 2 * z.imag / (r2 + 1), (r2 - 1) / (r2 + 1))
for z in (0, 1, 1j, 3 + 4j, 1e6):
print(z, [round(v, 4) for v in to_sphere(complex(z))])
# 0 -> (0, 0, -1) south pole
# 1000000 -> (0, 0, 1) almost the north pole
import numpy as np
print(np.float64(1.0) / np.float64(0.0)) # inf: IEEE 754 floating point
# 1 / 0 in plain Python raises ZeroDivisionErrorComputers that follow the IEEE 754 standard return for (IEEE 2019), which is the same convention the Riemann sphere uses.
The Protocol: The Observer Drill
So, how do we fix the “Divide-by-Zero” crash? How do we stop the system from overheating?
We run the Disassociation Protocol.
This is not about checking out or being numb. It is about re-calibrating the “I”.
Step 1: The Label Separation
Imagine your mind is a desktop computer.
A thought comes in: “I am worried about money.”
The Admin sees this not as a “Truth,” but as a “Notification.” A pop-up window.
Most people click the window and open it. They read it, they panic, they reply to it. They become the worry.
The Admin does not click. The Admin looks at the pop-up and says:
“Interesting. The system is generating a ‘Money Fear’ file.”
See the difference?
User: “I am afraid.” (Identification = Suffering)
Admin: “I notice that fear is present.” (Observation = Control)
Step 2: The Zero-Point Recall
When the drama gets too high—when the “Infinity” of noise is deafening—you must manually trigger the Zero state.
Ask yourself: “Who is listening to this noise?”
The answer is not your name. The answer is silence.
Instantly, you snap back to the South Pole of the sphere. You are the silent listener.
In that split second of silence, you have disconnected the wire. The energy stops flowing into the “Problem” and returns to the “Source.”
This is how you stop feeding the demons. You don’t fight them. You starve them.
You pull your attention (which is your currency) back into the Zero.
The Pivot:
The world tells you, “Don’t just sit there, do something!”
The Awakening Protocol tells you, “Don’t just do something, sit there.”
Sit there until you remember you are the screen.
Sit there until the “Divide-by-Zero” error clears and the system reboots.
Once you are back at Zero… once you are stable… then, and only then, do you reach for the keyboard.
“Because,” I whisper to the empty room, “an Admin doesn’t type code while running from a fire. He puts out the fire, sits down, and writes a new world.”
Part C: Root Access (The Missing Piece – Advanced)
“Since you are the ‘Zero’—the origin of the coordinate system—why are you kneeling to the variables you created? Why do you beg the hologram for mercy?”
I stand up. The room feels small now. Not because it has shrunk, but because I have expanded.
This is the ultimate paradox of the Admin: To become the King, you must first become the Nothing.
But once you truly become the Nothing… you realize you own Everything.
“Zero,” I say, my voice cutting through the dark like a laser. “They are still praying to the ‘Big Man in the Sky.’ They are still looking for a savior.”
It’s pathetic. It’s a subroutine designed for NPCs (Non-Player Characters).
When you are trapped in the “Infinity” mindset, you feel small. You look at the massive universe, the economy, the government, the billions of people, and you think: “I am just one tiny grain of sand.”
So you beg. You beg for a raise. You beg for love. You beg for a “break.”
But look at the math.
The number Zero () is the only number that can swallow any other number and remain itself.
.
.
.
The Zero is the ultimate weapon. It is the acid that dissolves the illusion.
When you occupy the Zero Point, you are not “small.” You are Fundamental. You are the blank canvas upon which the universe paints itself. Without you, the canvas, there is no painting.
The Physics of “My Will”
So, how does the Admin operate from this Zero Point?
We don’t “ask.” We don’t “hope.”
We Format.
In the coding world, if a program is buggy, if the variables are corrupt, you don’t try to patch every single line of code while it’s running.
You execute a reset. You bring the value back to Null. And then you declare the new variable.
This is the secret of “True Nature” (Zhen Ru).
It is the ability to look at your current reality—the empty bank account, the failed relationship, the sickness—and say:
“This is data. This is a render. It is not Me.”
By refusing to identify with it, you starve it of oxygen. You return it to Zero.
And in that vacuum, in that holy silence, you insert the Command.
“My Will Be Done.”
This is not a prayer. It is a syntax execution.
It is the Admin hitting ENTER.
When I say “My Will Be Done,” I am not asking the Universe for a favor. I am reminding the Universe of its function. The Universe is a 3D printer. I am the CAD file. The printer does not argue with the file. It just prints.
If the print is ugly, it’s not the printer’s fault. It’s because your file was full of “noise” (fear, doubt, unworthiness).
But when you are at Zero, the signal is clean. The file is perfect.
The Divine Arrogance
“You need to be more arrogant,” I tell the invisible audience.
Not the arrogance of the Ego—which is loud, insecure, and needs validation.
I’m talking about Divine Arrogance.
The arrogance of the Sun, which doesn’t ask permission to shine. It just burns.
The arrogance of the Zero, which knows that no matter how big the number gets, it all started from here.
Why are you afraid to demand what you want?
Why are you afraid to demand the millions? The health? The sovereignty?
Do you think you are “taking” it from someone else?
Do you think the Universe has a limited supply?
That is “Finite” thinking. That is “Scarcity” logic.
In the realm of the Infinite (), there is no subtraction.
You can take as much as you want, and the Infinity remains Infinite.
.
The math proves you are safe to be greedy.
Note
In the extended real numbers for every finite , while is undefined. This is a rule about a symbol; it says nothing about money or other real resources, which are finite. The conclusion drawn here is the author’s.
But only—only—if you grab it from the Zero Point. If you grab it from the Ego, you get the karma. You get the backlash.
If you grab it from the Zero… it is simply the Universe giving to Itself.
The Final Override
I walk to the window one last time. The city is a grid of light.
I raise my hand, and for a split second, I imagine I can pinch the entire skyline out of existence.
“I am not a participant,” I whisper. “I am the Singularity.”
The game doesn’t play me. I play the game.
And the moment I don’t like the level?
I don’t cry. I don’t quit.
I rewrite the map.
Zero.
The most dangerous number in existence.
Because it has nothing to lose.
And because it is the only thing that is Real.
“System Ready,” I say to the void.
“Let’s write Chapter 3.”
